The War Apartments are a part of the history of Brunswick, Georgia, that many people didn't know even exist. The Brunswick Shipyard opened in early 1943 during World War 2 on the south end of Brunswick next to where the Sidney Lanier Bridge is today. We walked in downtown Brunswick, Georgia, and we looked at some of the historic buildings in the area. Many of these buildings date back to the late 1800s. We saw the Krause/McGarvey building (1884), Walker building (1890), Elliot building (1890), Altman building (1893), Schreiber building (1887), and Tait's building (1890).
