Sep 19, 2019 · Your old boat looks great! If you start shopping now, you could probably buy a complete used racing hydro for the C or D class for way less $ than building or buying new. If you're too big for the A boat, then maybe a modern 20SSH or 25XSH or even a CSH would work, but you still may only see 40mph with the KG-7H engine.

I am introducing my 9 and 11 year old boys to boat racing. My intention is to build a couple of boats over the winter - an 8' to 10' hydroplane and a 10" to 11' runabout. Horsepower will range between 5 and 20. We will by running 50s era Mercs that I used to race in the 70s.

The helmet only may also be removed by drivers of stalled boats during point-to-point marathons.
