Police are on the scene of a shooting near the University of Maryland County (UMBC) campus Thursday afternoon.

An officer was shot outside the Baltimore County Police Station on Walker Avenue near UMBC, police said at a news conference at Shock Trauma on Wednesday. Police said around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, an armed subject approached an officer assigned to the Wilkens Precinct in the parking lot and “began to fire upon him.

Sorting out the mayhem from an ambush shooting outside the Baltimore County Police station in Catonsville, police now say the officer shot may not have been the intended target.
