The 2023 BMW M340i xDrive was one of those press loans I didn’t want to hand back after our time was up. The tidied-up looks hide a well-sorted chassis, complete with a high-watermark engine.

BMW's M340i is a luxury car with some power behind it, but strangely enough, its engine isn't custom-built. It's repurposed from an older BWM model.

Like the M340i, the M350 will be powered by BMW’s 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder B58 engine, albeit modified to produce upwards of 400 hp, possibly flirting with the 420 hp mark.
