Texas has fired men's basketball coach Rodney Terry after two-plus seasons. The Longhorns lost to Xavier in the First Four on Wednesday.

Sean Miller, who has led teams to 13 NCAA tournament appearances, including two of the past three seasons at Xavier, will be the new coach at Texas, sources told ESPN.

T he school announced Sunday it had fired Rodney Terry after nearly three seasons in charge. Terry took over as Texas’ head coach eight games into the 2022-23 season when Chris Beard was suspended and ultimately fired for a domestic violence accusation that ultimately resulted in dropped charges.

No. 3 seed Texas Tech forced the first overtime game of this year's men's NCAA tournament with an unlikely comeback in the final minutes of regulation against No. 10 Arkansas in the Sweet 16, and used the momentum in the extra frame to punch their ticket to the Elite Eight.

Sacramento native Darrion Williams tied the game with a 3 at the end of regulation, then won it for Texas Tech with a layup in overtime.

The first overtime game of the NCAA Tournament came thanks to a furious comeback by the Red Raiders from 16 points down midway through the second half.
