Planners briefed the Salt Lake City Council about a proposal that would consolidate 26 mixed-use and commercial zones into six form-based zones.

While the sale has not been finalized, it is clear that the city is gearing up for action on the block - perhaps in the next few weeks.

The project stands in contrast to many of the new proposals that are in the pipeline, which includes over 2,000 new apartments along North Temple.

A development with apartments and commercial space in Cottonwood Heights could start construction later this year.
