The WNBA is coming to Philly, but it will take a few years. The Women’s National Basketball Association announced Monday that Philadelphia has been awarded a team. Subject to WNBA and NBA Boards of Governors approval, the team will begin play in the 2030 season.

The WNBA announced on Monday that Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia will be getting expansion franchises in the coming years.

Philadelphia will be getting its first new professional team since the Union in the MLS was founded in 2008 and began play in the 2010 season. The WNBA coming to the city is a big get as the league is growing quickly and will be looking to bring more excitement to the City of Brotherly Love.
