Former Philadelphia Police Officer Mark Dial was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and related crimes Thursday for shooting Eddie Irizarry to death in 2023, but he was acquitted of the more serious charge of third-degree murder.

Mark Dial told jurors he feared for his life when he shot and killed Eddie Irizarry as he sat in his car in Kensington in 2023.

The jury returned a split verdict in the trial of former Philadelphia police officer Mark Dial for the 2023 shooting of Eddie Irizarry. Dial was found not guilty of third-degree murder, but was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
