Nearly 90 animals in a Custer County kennel are now under medical care after a search and seizure earlier this week prompted by a citizen complaint. The commercial kennel was operating under a special use permit issued by the county.

Nearly 100 animals were seized Monday from a "large commercial kennel" in southern Colorado, according to a news release from the Custer County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office received a complaint Feb. 13 from a nearby resident about the facility, which led deputies to investigate and eventually take in 86 "at-risk" animals.
