In a twist that will bring smiles to the faces of Lakers fans, former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart plans to sign a two-year, $11 million deal with Los Angeles, bringing depth to a Lakers team that needs it.

If Marcus Smart is bought out by the Wizards, he'll garner interest in the open market, which reportedly includes a Celtics rival.

One NBA writer proposed a trade that would give the Lakers a player who could plug one of their biggest needs right now.

“A potential reunion between Marcus Smart and the Celtics would not be off the table. “The Wizards, who now carry 17 players on the active roster, are expected to offload key veterans to make room for younger assets and would reportedly prefer to send Smart to a desired location,” he wrote.
