The River Cats are moving six home games to Tacoma, Washington, in June to accommodate MLB's plans for the A's to play in Sacramento in 2025.
The River Cats and Athletics will play on natural grass throughout the 2025 season. The games moving elsewhere will accommodate a planned field resurfacing at Sutter Health Park during the week of June 10, the River Cats said.
The Athletics, who moved from Oakland at the end of 2024, have sold out their first-ever home opener in Sacramento, which will be played on March 31.
On Wednesday, the commissioner toured Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento where the Athletics are set to play later this year, a source confirmed to KCRA 3’s Michelle Dapper. He was accompanied by the A’s owner John Fisher, Sacramento River Cats and Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and Sandy Dean, the A’s interim team president.
