New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Will Borgen on a five-year contract extension. Borgen, 28, has registered three points (1G-2A) in 17 games for the Rangers since being acquired from the Seattle Kraken on Dec.
Speaking on his 32 Thoughts podcast Monday, Friedman explained that the 28-year-old defenseman’s value might be more to the Rangers because of how he has helped bring out the best in K’Andre Miller’s game since they were teamed on the second defense pair in New York.
The defenseman was traded to the Rangers by the Kraken on Dec. 18 for Kaapo Kakko. Borgen, paired with K'Andre Miller, has played well.

Will Borgen is set to call Broadway home for the next five years. The New York Rangers announced Saturday that they have agreed to a five-year extension with the 28-year-old right-shot defenceman. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the deal carries an average annual value of $4.1 million.
