Longtime ESPN analyst Lee Corso seemed in high spirits ahead of the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship - but he was struggling to keep up with his co-hosts

Corso, a longtime staple of the ESPN crew, made his final pick of the season for Monday's national championship between Ohio State and Notre Dame.

Lee Corso has been many things — a college football coach, Burt Reynolds' college roommate and America’s favorite college football lovin’ crazy grandfather on ESPN's College GameDay, where he makes his "headgear picks" each week on location during College Football Saturday.

The longtime " College GameDay " analyst made an appearance on the ESPN show before kickoff from Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. And after picking the Irish to upset the heavily favored Buckeyes, some fans were left saddened and wondering if it could be his last pick on the show.

Lee Corso tipped his hand a little bit early. As the Notre Dame Fighting Irish prepared to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff national championship game, many imaged ESPN’s Lee Corso would have a terribly difficult time making his headgear pick.

The first 12-team Playoff had a lot of great moments. It could also use some tweaks. In the short term, leaders are unlikely to make major changes to the format for the 2025 season. The bigger stuff is more likely to come in 2026, when the new contracts kick in and the SEC and Big Ten basically get to do whatever they want.
