Lyle Menendez was denied parole in San Diego, a day after his brother Erick's freedom was rejected by commissioners in the deaths 36 years ago of their parents.

After the board denied his brother parole on Thursday, Lyle Menendez will try to convince a separate panel of commissioners to release him after serving decades in prison for killing his parents. Menendez is scheduled to appear virtually from the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego on Friday.

A state panel said Erik Menendez should stay in prison for the 1989 killing of his parents and questioned the sincerity of his rehabilitation. His brother, Lyle, goes before the board on Friday.
