On Saturday, Royals manager Matt Quatraro announced that Mitchell suffered a hamate bone fracture in his right hand. Mitchell, the club’s No. 2 prospect, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury. “I don’t think it was an acute thing,” Quatraro said. “I don’t have all the details on that. I think it was something that happened over time.”

When the Reds traded away Jonathan India to the Kansas City Royals, it was widely believed that India would take over the starting second base job. On Friday, India made his Royals debut in the Cactus League.

Defensively, Jonathan India never played anywhere but second base during the regular season in four years with the Reds.
