The 14-year-old accused of killing Newark police Detective Joseph Azcona is the only person charged in the case after multiple people were taken into custody the night of the shooting, authorities said Monday morning.

A teenager is charged with murder after a Newark, New Jersey police officer was shot and killed. A second officer is hospitalized.

Gov. Philip D. Murphy of New Jersey asked people to “please pray” for the officers, who were shot around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
