Baltimore’s top prosecutor is no longer seeking to vacate the murder conviction of Adnan Syed, the man whose case garnered national attention in the “Serial” podcast over a decade ago.

The Baltimore City state’s attorney’s office withdrew its motion to toss out the conviction of “Serial” subject Adnan Syed, according to a memorandum filed Tuesday evening. But prosecutors will not seek to have him sent back to prison.

Adnan Syed’s murder conviction will be reinstated after Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates announced the withdrawal of the motion to vacate judgment.

Adnan Syed, whose murder case was chronicled in the 2014 "Serial" podcast, will return to court for a hearing on Wednesday as a judge considers whether to reduce his sentence under the Juvenile Restoration Act.
