Hurricane Erin has triggered a state of emergency in North Carolina, where residents and visitors along the Outer Banks are under evacuation orders.
Hurricane Erin continued to track away from the United States on Friday, and attention is turning to two other potential storms in the Atlantic Ocean. The National Hurricane Center thinks both of the systems could become tropical depressions soon. And one seems to be on a path that those in the Caribbean will need to watch.
As Hurricane Erin moves out to sea, forecasters on Aug. 22 are keeping watch on three other areas of disturbed weather in the Atlantic Ocean.

Strong winds and waves from Hurricane Erin have battered Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard as dangerous rip currents continue to threaten from the Carolinas to New England.
Strong storm waters brought on by Hurricane Erin offshore on Thursday night caused dune erosion and damaged 40 to 50 beach boxes in Cape May. The beach reopened Friday, but Steger Beach Service, which operates the boxes for beachgoers, had to temporarily close its business.
Ginger Zee showed her true grit while covering Hurricane Erin on Good Morning America. The meteorologist reported live from Manasquan, New Jersey, on the ABC morning show’s Thursday, August 21, episode. Just as Zee faced rain and high winds during her broadcast on the beach, so did her water bottle.
A high surf advisory is still in effect and a high rip current risk is still present at beaches along the Jersey Shore on Friday as Hurricane Erin moves away from the U.S.Erin created high waves, resulting in flooding along the East Coast as it made its closest pass on Thursday,
Hurricane Erin is entering the first stages of a post-tropical transition as it continues to move away from the eastern coast of the United States.
