Cosmo the Cougar came to bowl at the BYU Bowling and Games Center on Aug. 1, bringing joy to all the boys and girls.

Cosmo is the old guy who gets let into frat parties because of his aura. All of my machismo references aside, whoever suits up in the Cougar costume is an excellent athlete.

The school has not had a live mascot since. Cosmo the Cougar replaced the live cougar in 1953. On Oct. 15, 1953, the cougar first appeared, flying into LaVell Edwards Stadium on a parachute.

Cosmo the Cougar hosted a meet-and-greet for kids at Harvey Park in Cedar Hill, Utah on June 4. His appearance kicked off the Cosmo in the Park summer series.
