Spectrum believes cable-cutters were looking for copper and — though they found none — they severed fiber-optic cables, causing a widespread internet outage.
Fiber optic lines were intentionally cut in the Van Nuys area early on June 15, according to the cable TV, internet and phone service provider. The downed lines then caused temporary outages for residents and businesses.
