President Joe Biden used his farewell address to the nation Wednesday to warn of an “oligarchy” of the ultra-wealthy taking root in the country.

After four years in the White House – and a half-century in Washington – President Joe Biden has said farewell.

With only days left in the White House, President Joe Biden was saving a few surprises for his farewell address Wednesday evening. Instead of simply summing up his term in office, he used the opportunity to issue dire warnings about the future and call for deep changes to the country's foundational document.

"Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy," the president said.

All major broadcast and cable news networks are expected to carry the address, which the White House says will be 20 minutes in length.
