Columbia University student has been arrested by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents with Homeland Security Investigations in connection with President Trump’s crackdown, while another had her student visa revoked and self-deported,

Ranjani Srinivasan’s student visa was revoked on March 5 for “advocating for violence and terrorism,” the Homeland Security Department said in a statement Friday.

According to the sources, it was part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on individuals it has described as espousing the views of Hamas.

Columbia University says it has expelled or suspended some students who took over a campus building during pro-Palestinian protests in Spring 2024 and temporarily revoked the diplomas of some students who have since graduated.

A Columbia University student left the country after having a student visa cancelled and a second student was arrested for overstaying an expired visa, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
